Plot:
Thulasi (Thananya) comes to Muttam village along with her grandmother (Nagamma) after her parent’s desert her. She joins a government school in the village to pursue her studies. Enters Koochan (Ramakrishnan) who falls for her instantly. Koochan's mother Chandra (Agavamma) helps the poor Thulasi to pursue her studies. However coming to know about their romance, Agavamma insults Thulasi and her grandmother and drives them out of the village when Koochan is out on a school tour. A shocked Koochan returns back only to meet with a road mishap. Meanwhile, Thulasi, who seeks refuge in a family at Tuticorin is forced to marry a rowdy Drama (Tharun Chatriya). On the day of their marriage, he gets arrested by police. His wayward lifestyle invites trouble and he eventually gets arrested for murdering a youth.
An annoyed Thulasi returns to Muttam only to see Koochan lost himself in liquor after his love failure. Meanwhile, Koochan resolves to set right Thulasi's life. But things take a turn when Dharma comes to Muttam after getting bail.

Plot:
The beginning is promising, at any rate, as you watch a Don't-Care Murugesan (Bharath) limp sorrowfully from the Central Jail, Palayamkottai, in a scruffy beard and glasses.He's been incarcerated for 17 years. Naturally, there's a story which rewinds from 1989. In those halcyon days, he's an unruly youngster in pretty village Sivasailam, (Hari's forte, Thirunelveli District), the son of a hard-working flower-sellers (Rajesh and Yuvasri), with Thapaal Thangavelu (Vadivelu), who provides as much laughter as the posts he delivers.Life is a long, sunny adventure for Murugesan who beats people up, sells his grandfather's land, runs over rooftops (like the rooster of the title) and incurs so much of his father's wrath that he's prophesied to meet a horrible end. Not that this gloomy prospect affects Murugesan -- he continues on his own sweet way until he runs smack into Parijatham (debutante Poonam Bajwa), a demure, fair-complexioned, striking Iyer girl, the daughter of Panjami Iyer (Y G Mahendra) and the younger sister of Gayatri (Simran).Thus we have the first half which is a series of rollicking fun interspersed with logical sequences; the two have sudden and quirky escapades.In the meantime, the village's bigwig (Sampath Raj), who's magnanimous in public and a tyrant at home, casts his eyes on Parijatham. What sets his characterisation apart is that he's not your average villain who shrieks and carries away the heroine; he places his pawns carefully, and is afraid of being found out. Plot:
The film follows the life of Mari, a rural girl with an incredible affinity to her cousin (Thangarasu). Both, as children share a world that is filled with laughter, pranks and even embarrassing moments. But as time the weary traveler plods on, the golden gates of childhood close behind them forever. Even as many a cherished moment fades into distant memory the affinity that has blossomed into love stays true.Thangarasu is off to Chennai to pursue a course in Mechanical Engineering and Mari finds herself working in a cracker factory chirping away all the time about the man-of-her-life to her dear friend and colleague.Scores of questions are raised as the film unfolds. Would an engineer want to marry a simpleton like Mari? Is Mari's love such an overdose that it'll destroy even her? etc…. Societal pattern plays a huge part all through the film.Thangarasu's father, a hard working man uses his bullock cart to transport wares and is extremely happy to be referred to as 'Pennakaarar' (courtesy, he owns a pen and knows how to write too….). The man is ecstatic at the fact that his son would soon be an engineer earning huge sums of money. Thangarasu becomes the toast of the village thanks to his studies.Would Mari's desire, societal norms and wavelength of thoughts converge? The crux of the film deals with all this.
